Houda Benyamina won the Camera d’Or, prize awarded for the best first feature film of the 2016 Cannes Festival all sections.
The jury of the Caméra d’or of the 69th Cannes Festival was chaired by the French director Catherine Corsini.
The Franco-Moroccan director Houda Benyamina takes us into a suburb where traffic and religion mix, Dounia is thirsty for power and success. Backed by Maimouna, her best friend, she decided to follow the footsteps of Rebecca, a respected drug dealer. Her meeting with Djigui, a sensually troubling young dancer, will change her life. The main roles are played by Deborah Lukumuena, Jisca Kalvanda, Kevin Mischel, Majdouline Idrissi, Oulaya Amamra and Yasin Houicha.
