As part of the Khourigba Film Festival, professionals met to discuss the relevance of an African cinema festival on the continent. A general consensus was that festivals were needed to promote and enhance the collaboration between the Arabian and African film world. They added that festivals are the best place to discover new initiatives and projects, as well as a means to highlight creativity. They made a point that they were the best way to strengthen the production market and reminded all that festivals are also a means to pressure governments to get more involved in the cultural sector.
