Initiated by the Foundation of the African Film Festival and under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the African Film Festival of Khouribga returns for its 19th edition from 16 to 23 July 2016 with a rich and diverse programme represented through African filmmakers and their new productions.
This year, the festival, of which OCP is a historic sponsor, pays tribute to the Ethiopian cinema in order to consolidate the links of cooperation between the Moroccan and Ethiopian cinema industrialists and open opportunities and prospects for exchange between Ethiopian filmmakers and their Moroccan counterparts.
Alongside this 19th edition, the OCP Foundation in turn supports through its Culture and Heritage programme and its African leadership. Two events are well planned on the sidelines of the festival, namely:
– Opening of the international exhibition of contemporary art from Africa, scheduled for Sunday, July 17 at 16h at the Library of Khouribga
– Literary meeting with Aida Muluneh (Artist, Photographer, Writer from Ethiopia), Friday, July 22 at 16h at the Library
OCP supports African arts and cultural events to boost the regions where it operates. It is engaged with all partners and stakeholders during this 19th edition to present a diverse and varied programme for the African Film Festival of Khouribga, again, a cultural event that inspires and enchants the city, a crossroads of openness, exchange and sharing between different African nationalities. In this sense, OCP combines its actions by supporting different creative trends of the African film heritage.
The festival will see the screening of fifteen films from twelve African countries: Tunisia, Ethiopia, Algeria, Guinea, Egypt, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Mali, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Benin and Morocco. Productions that will compete to win the “Prix Ousmane Sembène” and those of the best interpretations, male and female.
For this edition, the jury is chaired by the French philosopher and sociologist Professor Edgar Morin and will consist of experienced African members in various disciplines of the world of image and screen, as well as print and broadcast media representatives Morocco and internationally.
