The organisation of the Alpe d’Huez International Festival of Comedy Film announced via a message on its Facebook page that Omar Sy was chosen to chair the jury of the 20th edition.
For 20 years, the Alpe d’Huez International Festival of Film Comedy has decided to offer the best of the best. And asked the showman Omar Sy to be president of the jury. The festival organisation announced the news via a statement on its Facebook page, published on 13 June 2016.
Visibly delighted to be the adventure, the French comedian said: “I am honoured and proud to be the President of the Jury” for this 20th edition. A festival which the actor says to like “quite particularly”. He wished to recall the values advocated by this event cinema. “International Festival of Comedy Films, thus the laughter, beautiful feelings, the sharing, and attractive meetings… Even vital and important sensations for me as for us all! ” he thus wrote.
Already Present with Intouchables
The Alpe d’Huez Festival will be held from 17 to 22 January 2017 in Isère, as it is held every year. Omar Sy is a regular at the event, who came to screen in 2012 THE film which imposed him as a key actor of his generation:Intouchables. In 2006 and 2009, he also accompanied the two filmmakers Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, then came to screen two of their other feature films: Nos Jours heureux et Tellement proches.
Before returning to Omar Sy in his role as jury president, the public will see the showing of three films could not be more different. Indeed in November it will be showing the latest film by Ron Howard, Inferno, with Tom Hanks and Jodie Foster. Then in December, he will share the bill with Clémence Poésy for the new film by Hugo Gelin, Demain tout commence; before lending his voice to the animation character Norm in the film of the same name.
