ALGIERS – The feature film “Rêveries de l’acteur solitaire” by the Algerian director Hamid Benamra will take part in the official competition of the 8th International Film and Audiovisual Festival of Burundi (Festicab) to be held from 17 to 24 June in the capital Bujumbura, we learned from the organisers.
The film, produced by “Nunfilm”, focuses on the concerns of an actor, his dreams, his ambitions through the comedian Mohamed Adar, the main character of the film, when staging a play.
Exploiting a lot of archive footage, this film is also a tribute to artists, filmmakers and Algerian men of culture and in Arab countries.
Director, actor and photographer Hamid Benamra, had released his first work, “Pour une vie meilleure” in 1981, before dedicating himself to short films and documentaries from 2007.
“Rêveries de l’acteur solitaire” had won a special jury mention at the last film festival in Algiers, a distinction that he would also earn at the Luxor African Film Festival held in March.
Created thanks to the initiative of the “Association of Burundian creators of images and sound,” the Festicab aims to create a space for meeting and exchange for the promotion of cooperation and co-production in the field of cinema and audiovisual.
Since its creation in 2009, the event was dedicated to the promotion of works made entirely or in part in the African continent. This edition will be dedicated to the theme “Cinema in the service of reconciliation.”
