The film “Sans Regret” by the Ivorian Jacques Tra Bi will soon be showing in cinema halls in Abidjan. From 3 May, one could attend the screening of the film in theaters, specifically the Cinéma Majestic.
The cast speaks volumes about the quality of this film because it consists of the major names of the Ivorian cinema. One could mention, among others, Michel Bohiri, Naky Sy Savane, Mahoula Kane, Prisca Marceleney without forgetting the participation of French actor Bruno Henry. For the original music, the director Jacques Tra Bi has selected the Ivorian artists Meiway et Espoir 2000.
In a succint manner, the film recounts the life of a lambda family, which resides in Yopougon. The husband is a docker and the wife, fish vendor at the market. They have children who struggle every day to get by. The couple lives in a common courtyard. How do they face the vicissitudes of life? Also, it takes off in the frame two worlds divided by the power which turn into two destinies united by need. “The film is set around a social project in which we tried to put the action. Without regret is a thriller with a social base,” explains the director.
“Sans regret” is certainly underappreciated in Ivory Coast, but this film is successful in African cinema space. As a reminder, this year during the African Film Festival of Luxor in Egypt, the film won the Special Jury Prize for fiction feature film. “Sans regret” also has in its kitty the honorary designation of Favourite of the recent International Film Festival of Marrakech in Morocco.
You are all invited to watch this film, which promises to be a classic among Ivorian feature films.
