The harmonised falling cost of telecommunications in the member countries of the “One Area Network” initiative also had a great impact on the Internet segment in Kenya. The number of subscribers to mobile telephony in Kenya has also also increased. 38.3 million mobile users including 37.4 mobile Internet users.
Only the volume of SMS sent to the sub-region and received from the area to Kenya has not increased. Instead, it declined slightly, due to the strong adoption of OTT by the people.
