Vivendi launches the first movie theater
and CanalOlympia shows in Cameroon
Vivendi opens today in Yaounde, Cameroon the first CanalOlympia movie and shows theatre of the continent. This is part of a network of dozens of halls that will be gradually deployed in Central and West Africa. Additional CanalOlympia halls will emerge in the coming months in Benin, Guinea, Senegal and Togo.
The CanalOlympia halls are based on an original architectural design allowing them to host 300 people in an interior configuration and several thousands in an outdoor configuration. They feature digital projection and sound equipment and are the most modern and eco-friendly. In Yaounde, for example, the power supply of the whole building is provided by 720 m2 of solar panels.
The CanalOlympia brand refers to two flagship brands of the Group. These halls benefit from the wealth of Canal + content, its established presence in Africa and the expertise of the mythical Parisian hall L’Olympia.
With CanalOlympia, a unit of Vivendi Village, the Group intends to participate in the creation of new living spaces dedicated to entertainment and culture on the African continent. A real springboard and incubator of talent, CanalOlympia aims to unveil African artists by producing them, allowing them to meet their public and making them shine throughout Africa.
